Depending on when you are reading this post, it might be 2018 already. I had considered to post this right when the year changes, but decided against it since I would most likely be celebrating the coming year with family and close friends. And I never liked scheduled posts since it doesn’t feel personal.
So please allow me to say the following:
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018!
2017 had been a great, smashing year for me. I got to finish a new book, open my very own Tokopedia shop, and even successfully arranged my own writing retreat. And although some hardships were to be expected, I am very satisfied of what I had accomplished in 2017.

As far as new year goes, I will be starting 2018 with the release of my new book: UNSPOKEN WORDS. So right off the bat, the coming year would be a very busy (and delightful) one for me; there would be book sales to monitor, my blog to take care of, and I’m planning to get back to poetry writing to fill up my Instagram account.
My new year’s resolution is not as expansive as the one I had last year, but let’s say it has everything to do with crafting even better stories, exploring alternate methods and techniques I haven’t tried in story-telling, and finding more time to interact with close friends and readers.
Also, crafting a new book or two, if that wasn’t obvious enough.
Fingers crossed. I hope everything would go as smoothly as it did for me in 2017.
So here is my way of welcoming 2018.
My new year’s resolution for 2018 (in no particular order):
- Complete a new book (or two!)
- Get back into poetry writing
- Consume books, movies, documentaries, articles, etc. about other countries’ cultures, how their daily lives are like, what do they eat, what are their social anxieties, etc.
- Post a new content on my website every week consistently
- Hold another writing retreat, and perhaps letting some friends join in
- Procuring a nice fountain pen to reward myself if all of the above are fulfilled.
There you have it!
Have a great new year, everyone! I will see you guys next year, hopefully with even better contents and stories to tell.
Speaking of UNSPOKEN WORDS, the giveaway has ended recently, and I have seen the book being displayed in bookstores in Jakarta.
I would really appreciate it if you could reach out to me through any of my social media, and snap a picture of the book on the shelves / on your hands. It would bring me much joy to witness the book being in the public.
Love,
Alicia
